(unless you approach on a mountain bike!).

The road is very bumpy and is not suitable for low ground clearance sports cars. If lost please phone 07799416722.

From Buxton or Glossop: Take the A624 towards Hayfield, in Hayfield turn towards New Mills, A6015. After nearly a mile turn right towards Mellor. After a further 0.7 miles peel off right just before the road start going down in front of what looks like a converted chapel (max 7.5 ton sign, but no sign for Mellor at this turn off). Follow this road for 1 1/2 miles until you get to a give way sign. Join this road going straight for about 0.8 miles. Turn onto Gibb lane opposite the Devonshire Arms and turn right after 250 m towards the golf club. Keep going until the road is bumpy with potholes, then immediately turn left up the uneven track across the golf course. Keep going for 800 yards. When there are some stone cottages very close to the road (just past Lily Bank Farm), park in the signposted space opposite facing the valley. Walk up the cobbled drive and the cottage is on the right at the top.

From Manchester, M60: Drive to Marple Bridge (If approaching via A626, please turn off left onto Station Road at the first set of lights as you reach Marple and you will soon reach Marple Bridge)and turn towards Mellor at the traffic lights at the botton of the hill, next to the Norfolk Arms. Continue up the hill along Longhurst lane. At the Devonshire Arms (1.3 miles) turn right on to Gibb lane (signed for Mellor golf course and Linnets clough scout camp). After 250 meters turn right (do not go up the hill). Keep going until the road is bumpy with potholes, then immediately turn left up the uneven track across the golf course. Keep going for 800 yards. When there are some stone cottages very close to the road (just past Lily Bank Farm), park in the signposted space opposite facing the valley. Walk up the cobbled drive and the cottage is on the right at the top.

By train:

If you prefer to come by train Strines train station is only 15 minutes walk away. There are regular services from Manchester and Sheffield. Alternatively we can provide pick up from Stockport or Marple train stations.
